Red espresso is premium rooibos tea refined under patent to an espresso grind similar to coffee, and produced for use in espresso and coffee appliances. Expressed, it delivers a strong, rich-tasting red espresso, complete with a crema that is the pure essence of rooibos. In this concentrated expression, red espresso is richer in flavour, darker in colour and higher in antioxidants than regular rooibos tea.
- 100% rooibos tea enjoyed like coffee
- Can be used in the same way that ground coffee is, in espresso machines, moka pots, French presses and coffee machines
Red Espresso 1kg for cafƩs running a caffeine-free menu
Red Espresso 1kg from Red Espresso lets a cafƩ run a caffeine-free menu on the same equipment used for coffee. The Rooibos Espresso is finely ground rooibos brewed in a standard espresso machine, producing a shot that can be served straight or built into a red cappuccino, red latte or iced version. The matcha range covers premium grade for pure matcha drinks and a latte mix for cafƩ-style matcha lattes.
Frequently asked questions
How is rooibos espresso brewed?
In a standard espresso machine, using the same portafilter, grouphead and routine as coffee. Dose, tamp and pull, the shot comes out as a deep red liquid that builds into a red cappuccino with steamed milk. No special equipment.
Caffeine content?
Rooibos products are naturally caffeine-free. Matcha contains caffeine, roughly 30 to 70mg per gram of pure matcha, comparable to a cup of green tea but typically lower than a single shot of espresso.
What grade is the Red Espresso matcha?
Pure Premium Matcha is premium grade Japanese matcha, second flush, stone-ground, suited to traditional preparation with water as well as to lattes. The Matcha Latte Mix uses exceptional grade matcha blended with a touch of coconut sugar, formulated for cafƩ latte service.
